Hello photo Hello.gif

Hi Group - It's been so long since I've been on here I have to remember how to do things!  I tried doing the Tutorial Page over again and when I read it today, I couldn't even understand what I was saying!  I'll have to leave it until my head is screwed on properly again.

The last few weeks have been horrible!  Up to three appointments in one day and getting all the times right for my treatment.  Also being poked and prodded leaving bruises all over me.  They put a PICC line in my arm on Tuesday and hope to use it throughout the treatment which is apparently going to go until the middle of October.  And now finally, everything starts on Monday morning around 8:00 am.

They have done so many tests that I am already constantly tired.  Several of the tests include smaller amounts of radiation and Monday I will begin getting the big doses along with the Chemo.  I'll come in whenever possible.

Hi Folks - Yesterday was my Pulmonary Function Test.  What a hoot!  I spent most of the time coughing into the machine.  But we did finally get some proper readings.  Now I see each of the two heads of the treatment departments on Monday and Tuesday.  So at least the radiation part of the treatment should start very soon now.  I have been very tired lately which is the way my body reacts to any illness.  I guess by the time we start with the radiation, I'll be sleeping almost 24/7.  Works for me!

Hi everyone - Our second day of sunshine!  It's been wonderful!  I have been getting tired of so much rain.  Our nights have not been warm either.  Very weird weather for August.

So today was a free day for me.  Tomorrow (Tuesday) I go for another abdominal Cat Scan.  They sure have been putting me through the wringer!  It looks like I'll be starting my first radiation next week.  I will find out about the Chemo this week too.  Then its just pray & hope for the best!

We spent a lot of today at the old place going through some more boxes and bringing a bit more back here.  There was another couple checking it out today between 4 & 5.  I sure hope they like it!  It would be great to get an offer on the place.  We are keeping the old address in the files at the post office until everyone has been notified of the new one.  Getting 'er done!

What's New This Week??

G O L D

In August of 1896, George Carmack, Dawson Charlie and Skookum Jim discovered gold in what is now called Bonanza Creek. Soon after came one of the world's greatest gold rush stampeded; nearly 100,000 people attempting to strike it rich in the Klondike gold fields.

Today, the Yukon celebrates our grand history with a week-long event in Dawson City, known as Discovery Days. From family-friendly events such as crafts, face painting and a sampling of the Diamond Tooth Gerties' Can Can dancers show, to writing competitions, walking tours, an arts festival and a golf tournament, there's barely enough hours in the day to do and see everything!

Good afternoon all - We have had 3-4 days in the high 20's and its been just wonderful!  Bright sunshine and pretty blue skies!  I love it!

I've been weighed down with almost daily appointments.  Today we had to be at the hospital at 7 am!!!  That's still the middle of the night!  But Jim got us there on time and they began to 'prep' me.  This time was to run tubes and a camera down the chute to examine my stomach.  At least they put me to sleep for it.  They had seen a small abnormality there from a previous test and wanted to check out what it was.  When it was finally over, they said there was no cancer there. smiley17  What it was, was a small fold in the lower stomach that was irritated.  I got a new script for it to replace a weaker one that I was already taking.  Yeah!!!

Today's test was the last one that I had scheduled so far.  I have been ecstatic all day!  I am hoping it was really the last one.  Now I just see the doctors to find out when we begin.

So we have had another viewing of our house over the last weekend but I haven't heard yet what they thought of the place.  Hope they liked it enough to put an offer in!

Good evening all - Today was a long day!  I had another appointment early this morning and didn't get home until 4:00 this afternoon!  It was one of those scans where the face plate is about 2" from your own face.  Believe me, my eyes were tightly shut through the whole thing!

So now I have tomorrow off (Wednesday) and my next test at 8:30 am Thursday morning and the dentist in the afternoon.  Then Friday, a late test at 5 pm.  Busy week!!

PAT

Hi Marsha - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.  I hope it is a temporary phase she's going through but you said you didn't think so?  Its a shame when they start to forget who everyone is.  Prayers to the family!

Getting tired of all these appointments!  I had another one today and they have already booked me for Tuesday and Thursday next week.  One day next week they are having their 'pow wow' altogether to determine the best treatment. But for now, I'm just tired.  Thank goodness for the weekend....

Hi Marsha - Hope you had a better day!!!

Good afternoon all - Jim & I just got home from the Dentist.  I had a tooth that had to come out.(So glad that its over)  I'm a Dentist coward as are many of the baby boomers.  Plus the darn thing cost me $423 !!!

Tomorrow I go see the specialist for incontinence and then Thursday is a visit with my Cancer doctor to get information and a possible schedule for my treatment.  What a lovely week and its calling for rain every day!!

The showings of the old house continue.  If we have time tomorrow, Jim and I will pop in there to sweep the decks again and possibly bring a few more things out of the sheds.  Everyone so far has been very impressed with the size and condition of the property.  One couple is renting where they are and are thinking about our place.  They would have to work it out between them with the finances and such.  No-one has actually made an offer yet.  Until they do, we can't really pay a proper rent to Jimmy but every couple of weeks or so we give him an envelope with $300 in it.  He didn't want to take it at first but we told him it was to help with the buying of the supplies for the new sheds.  That worked!

Our weather has been so spring-like with quite cool evenings and rainy cool days.  Where's the heat?  Where's my sunshine?  I hope when (if) we do get it, it will last well into Autumn!

PAT

Hi Marsha - I would gladly share our rain with you.  We've just about had enough for now!  Glad to hear that Monica is moving on ahead.  She is one determined girl!  Good for her!

JULY 28 - AUGUST 3rd

 photo FantasyPortal.jpg

We slip effortlessly from July to August scarcely noticing

the change while all around us the year gets a little older

and a little wiser, knowing that there are fundamental steps

that it must take in preparation for the long Winter of sleep.

Man continues with his daily chores and celebrations, preparing

for the harvest of his labors, planning special holidays for the

thanks to whichever Gods he deems fit and faith that he will

survive the long cold season to look forward to the promise

of Spring and renewed life.

Beautiful Summer day and evening!  I had no appointments yesterday or today.  It feels weird!  Today I've been working on laundry so now we have fresh sheets on our bed and clean clothes on the way.  I'm getting more comfortable here and have begun puttering around during the day while the kids are at work.  Its surprising how much you can get done by simply puttering from one thing to another.  I've made the odd meal and expect I will do a lot more after we're settled.

Quite a few people have viewed our house but our realtor is off this week so we haven't really gotten any feed back lately.  I'm sure she will call us on her return on Monday.  Jim's sister, Elaine, has called to ask when she can come down from SSM.  Gee, I'm not even sure where we can put her!  I finally decided that we could stay at the old place with her.  It still has the beds set up.  I don't know how long she would stay but knowing her, it will be for the duration of my illness!  I spent just over a month in Sault St Marie when she contracted Cancer a few years ago.  I think the help and the company kept her going when she was scared and worried about it all.

Its funny but we haven't been getting the really hot days and most of our evenings are actually cool.  We sit out on the back deck and most times I need a wrap of some kind or a jacket.  Strange summer!

PAT

Hi Marsha - Most definitely sending prayers and warm wishes to Monica!  I sure am hoping that this spell passes quickly.  You must be so worried...  Bless Bobbie for being with her at this time.....
I'm afraid that Bertha must be a few bricks short of a load.  I know she has a lot medically to contend with but it doesn't sound like she handles it all very well.  Its a shame her 'friends' are only there at party time....

Hello group - Did not have a good day today.  I was scheduled for a head scan in Barrie and it was supposed to be a reasonably simple affair.  But I have had so many people poking holes in me lately that today's nurse just couldn't find a good spot for her poke!  She kept apologizing over and over as she stabbed me here and there with no luck at all.  Finally she called another nurse who took her turn doing the same thing.  After awhile my whole left arm was bruised and very sore.  I had enough by then and told them to go for the foot which is not a fun place to get an injection.  They found what seemed like a good vein and tried again.  They got the nettle in ok but then the vein collapsed.  So they used the smallest nettle they had and managed to get in around my wrist.  When the fella took me in for the scan, he used that stint to inject the dye and then rinsed with Heparin.  The actual x-rays only took about 5 minues and I was done.

Before they started to take the nettle out, I asked them if they could use it tomorrow for my Pet-Scan?  They weren't sure so I had them wrap it and leave it in.  Tomorrow is in Toronto.  I have to admit, I'm getting a little frustrated with all this. But I'm doing everything they say!

PAT

Hi Marsha - That is very inconsiderate to block your exit for their parties.  Are there not any lawn areas they could use?  Not much help from the Police either!

Good afternoon all - Thought I would pop in while I have the chance.  I had blood work again today and have appointment at 7:30 tomorrow morning for pre-op.  Then Friday, I go to Toronto Hospital for the lung exploratory and internal biopsy.  (yeah!)
Monday is the head scan and Tuesday is a Pet-Scan which is a full body scan.  I'm not looking forward to any of it!

Meanwhile, we've been going back to the house every day or so to make sure its tidied up or to pick up more things or to cut the lawn.  Its weird going there already.  its all going reasonably well at the new place.

PAT

Hi Marsha - Great to find those aluminum pans on sale!  I like the ones that also have a lid on them, great for freezing things.  I hope any flash floods don't effect you guys!

Good afternoon - We're back at the old house doing a bit more dusting and packing up.  My computer is still here and I'm using the laptop at the new place.  Jim mowed the front lawn again so it looks good and he says he's going to sweep down the decks again too.  But for now, I've laid him down for a little cat nap.  He looked pretty tired and he didn't put up much of a fight.
 photo Sweeping.gif
I have load of laundry in the dryer already and I'm washing out a couple of older totes to begin packing up our fridge.  I like leaving a bit of food in it because when we come here we can have breakfast before we start work.  Today I'll pack up our salad dressings, pickles, condiments, etc.  The next trip will probably be the frozen goods.
 photo Washer.gif
My medical appointments are pouring in and I'm trying to keep them all straight.  One of them (Thursday) we have to be in Barrie Hospital at 7:30 in the morning!  That means we leave here about 6:30 am.  Sheesh!
 photo TiredSun.jpg
Young Jimmy is working like crazy!  He has one shed built, he just has to put the doors on it and then he starts the next one.  He uses all his spare time doing this stuff and still works a full shift at the plant. As soon as the first shed is ready, Jim & I will fill it with a bunch of the totes that are cramming his basement.  Then we can take more stuff over from here.  Its amazing how much stuff you collect.  I will start my garage sales as soon as I can.  But they may not really get going until the Spring due to the crazy weather we've been having.  I hope that's not the case.....

PAT

Hi Marsha - Blocking your door is a bit rude!  Does she think you are friends now so it doesn't matter?  We have had the occasional hot day but most of them are more like spring weather. And the rain!  (sigh)
